    Using Ball Nose EM

Hi, I'm looking for information about using Ball Nose End Mills for wood and there's really not a lot of info out there about feeds and speeds and depths of cuts. Or perhaps I'm looking in the wrong areas. Does anyone have any ideas where I should be looking?

Perhaps you should be looking for ball nose router bits rather than end mills? Cutters for The Brown Stuff are quite different from metal cutters.

    Re: Using Ball Nose EM

I normally use 2-flute uncoated ball endmills for wood; they basically work fine. The main difference between them and router bits is that they have spiral flutes while the router bits are either straight or slightly slanted. The main thing you need to be careful of is to tighten them firmly; the spirals mean they tend to grab and pull themselves into the work. So if they aren't in there tight enough, they keep going deeper and deeper...
