I paid for the license for the first year I used Fusion because I wanted support. It was worth it. The support was solid, and it got me rolling on the software when I had issues. The modeling was fairly straightforward for me, but I spent a lot of time getting help with CAM. I'd be willing to pay again just for the support, the price is minimal in the scheme of things.

The $1000 you are all referring to is an exemption for semi-commercial people to still get a free license if they are selling less than $1000/yr of product.
*Individuals with “hobby businesses,” generating less than $1,000 USD in annual revenue, are exempt from the non-commercial requirement, thus for the free, personal use of Fusion 360.*

The $100,000 still is used to distinguish a start-up from a commercial entity.

Non-commercial use is still free.
