Re: Building my first CNC - final questions

    I still need some help.

So, this is what I have:
    - 48 V power supply
    - 4 of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/264045184820
    - 6 limit switches: https://www.ebay.com/itm/10x-KW12-3-...UAAOSwA3xcNeRi
    - and probably something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/AC110-220V-....c100005.m1851

What breakout board/controller do I need with these? I would like to incorporate everything from above, including limit switches and spindle. I suppose something like this won't work: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1pcs-5-Axis...kAAOxyBjBTWMPR

    ?

    Thanks a lot, guys!

Re: Building my first CNC - final questions

That spindle is not a brushless motor; I'd give serious consideration to getting one that is brushless. If the text of the listing doesn't say; you can tell one that's not brushless by the number of wires coming out of the motor: brushed motors have 2 wires, brushless have typically three (although it's possible to have more than three, in order to function it needs at least three wires).

I don't use UCCNC myself (I have my own fork of Grbl-Mega); but from a quick look at the product page; I think a UC400ETH board plus one of those breakout boards you linked to, plus a parallel port ribbon cable (26 pin 0.100 header connector to DB25 female) should work for you.

This is the sort of cable I think the UC400ETH needs:

That one comes with a PC case bracket on it; which you wouldn't be using, to get it off, just remove the screw mounts from the side of the DB25 connector.

Note that the USB plug on that breakout board is only used to power the buffer chips on the board; there's no processor on it.

Gerry - can you confirm that what I said is right?

    Yes, I think so.

I'd use a handheld router as a spindle before I bought one of those cheap so-called "spindles".

For the 12-24 V power input on the breakout board, what current do I need to choose? Is 24V1A enough or should I go with 24V5A? Thank you.

Re: Building my first CNC - final questions

I have used the 5 axis board before, i actually have a few lying around. Tested them with 12 and 24 volts. Honestly i found the voltage regulator was getting very warm when i used 24V...so i opted for 12V.
These boards work quite well. The power supplies i use are usually around 2A

The AXBB-E motion controller has an inbuilt bob. I just got one today, same motion controller as with the UC300ETH. Worth a look i think!

...oops forgot to mention with the AXBB-E you need two power supplies, a 5V and 24V

Oh, I see, thanks. So it does not matter at all if I use 12V or 24V?
