    Second offset on groove tool

    Hi, in need to set 2 different offset on turning groove tool. Couldn't make it.
    Please your good help.

    Hi Matgo,

    Say you're tool is mounted in turret position one, so you call T0101 to bring that tool to play and activate the first offset you have for it. Now pick any other offset number that isn't being used by another tool, Let's use 8 just for explanation's sake. Set the 2nd offset you want for tool one there in Geometry 8 address, (be it X or Z or both) just like you did for tool one's first offset. Now when you want to use the 2nd offset for tool one just call T0108. And there you have it. Simple. You can use that same concept to have as many offsets as you think you want for your tool, as long as they're not being used by another tool.

    PS - Now if you're trying to do this from within Solidcam or want Solidcam's post processor to spit it out for you... you're on your own there. The above is hand work either in your G code or at the machine or come to think of it... both.
