    Ghost in my machine

I have a DIY cnc router that I have had for years. I recently did a few up grades like converting from lead screws to timing belts, adding a rotary axis, modifying the router mount and the like. The machine has been working perfectly up until today. While cutting parts for a new dust shoe to fit the new router mount things started going sideways. The machine would follow the correct toolpath for a while then suddenly go off course. It would make a straight line instead of an arc and pause for a short time before carrying on. A few days ago I cut the parts for a marble machine out of 1/4" plywood and everything was good. I suspect a driver issue but not sure. Any suggestions? BTW I'm running Mach 3.

Sounds like it might be a mechanical issue?
