    Usual Power Supply???

    What's everyone's favorite power supply for Gecko 320 & 340's??? Self-built, regulated, rackmount...?

Also, is there any merit in providing a separate supply for each of the drives vs. just one supply capable of outputting the amperage for all 3 servos of a 3 axis system?

I have used gecko 320's before on my previous machine and have run 3 switchers and 2 large toroid supplies. It's less trouble to run convential supplies and you won't have to worry about spikes when a motor looses power and the magnetic field collapses trashing out your switchers. If you do decide to use switchers it would be wise to go to the Gecko site and look for a circuit they posted that can eliminate the issue. Their circuit used a TIP147 mosfet, a diode, capacitor, and a few resistors will give you protection from inductive kickback
