I have gone through every message on this forum with no solution, although have learned some insight to my issue.

problem is drip feeding
Machine is Excel 510 Fanuc OM (not sure if A or B)

It does have the Tape option (on the mode select dial anyway),
I cannot change the G127.5 to a 1, with the dial or through MDI
I know the tape selector is wired, because the diag shows that tape mode is selected (forget off hand which diag # changed when I select Tape)
I can send and receive programs through my computer, so it seems the communication is setup ok. (unless I am missing something that allows regular communication but not drip feeding.)
Everything I gather indicates it should be able to read from Tape but that darn G 127.5 just won't turn on.
I cannot see the ladder.
Is it possible I have an OMA (from which I gather would not be able to drip feed?)

Any input/checklist or advise or referral would be much appreciated.

Meanwhile ,go in diagnose and go to D683.4 and make it 1 if is not and try and check ig G127.5 is 1.
if it is already 1 ,make it 0

PS:when the selector is on Tape Mode(DNC) in diagnose is changing X8.5

cannot change D683.4 (you mean the diagnostic not parameter, correct?)

when I output the diag screen , I receive as per file attached. it seems weird as it is incomplete.
am I outputting correctly? I set the comp to receive the file, go to diag screen and press 'output'

It seems this gentleman went in pretty deep with changing the ladder in the PMC chips.

can I turn it on somehow?
how do I find X8.5?

yes it is corect.
normal you should have the ladder printed on a book if is not available on screen
the diagnose always is set with PWE=1 and emergency stop pushed.

X8.5 is first page on diagnose ,on the row of 8 bit 5

Diagnostic D503.4 must be set to 0 on the 510 machine. I've attached a copy of the 510 ladder for the 0M-B control. It has some of my notes in it but should cover what you need. I don't think that a Fanuc option is required for this to work. Excel has been out of business for a number of years.

Sweet Jesus it turned on G127.5 (when in tape mode)
Llooks like can communicate through tape mode. Cycle starts initiates coms with computer. A few little things to sort out but I think this worked!
