    VFD and Mach 3 Setting Discount Double Check

    Below is my setup with the 220v configuration. Need some help with confirming a few things.

    QUESTIONS:
    • Should my base frequency be set to 400 or the 300 as indicate on the spindle?
    • ROTT indicator on the VFD displays 12000. I assume this is RPM. My spindle says 18000. Does this need to be corrected?
    • In Mach 3 im struggling to understand what to set my PWM Base Frequency too. Currently at 45…..Seems to work at 1000 or 45…What is correct?

    4KW Aircooled Square Chinese Spindle (EYS8043-184.0):
    • V = 220
    • Hz = 300
    • A = 10
    • Kw = 4
    • r/min = 18000
    • COS = 0.75
    • Pole = 2

    VFD (Huanyang HY04D023B) Configuration:
    • PD001 Source of Run Commands to '1'
    • PD004 base frequency to 400hz
    • PD003 Main frequency to 400hz
    • PD005 Max operating frequency to 400hz
    • PD006 Intermediate frequency to 2.5
    • PD008 max voltage to 220v
    • PD009 Intermediate voltage to 15v
    • PD010 Min voltage to 8
    • PD011 frequency lower limit to >100hz (120hz to start)
    • PD142 8 Amps
    • PD143 2
    • PD144 3000

    Yes if your spindle is only rated 300Hz you can't have the VFD Drive set at 400 so where you have 400 that needs to be 300 and where there is 100 to 120 unless you have an electric fan for cooling those to will have to be changed to suit your spindle which you should start at 150 and see how the temperature of the spindle is

    Thanks.

    I do have an electric fan. So PD011 should start at 150 to control the cooling on the spindle?

    Yes you can go lower when you have an electric fan just check the temperature of the spindle

    You have some other parameters that need to be set also

    PD70=0 ( This may need to be set to 1 if Control Voltage is 0-5v )

    PD72=300 ( Max Spindle RPM )

    PD73=150 ( Adjustable lowest speed for your spindle )

    PD120=120 (Stall Prevention )

    PD174=?? ? ( Your VFD Drives Max Amp Output Rating )
