HI. I've been trying to troubleshoot this for a week now. So, all of a sudden my Laser Cutter (Chinese with RDC6442S Controller), started creating grinding noise as if something is stuck while I moved the X or Y axis. Axis would get stuck while moving.. I cleaned everything and took out the stepper motor and checked it without connecting it to the X or Y axis. Problem is still there.. I changed the Stepper (Nema23) and checked, still the same problem. Looks like the motor itself is getting stuck (both of them, X and Y axis ones) or receiving the wrong signal or something.

- Could the Stepper Driver be faulty? But Both of them at the same time? I wonder how.
- Could the 24V- Power Supply be a at fault?
- Could it be an RDC6442S Controller issue?

Only common part connected to both the stepper motors is either the power supply or the Main Controller board.
Has anyone ever faced this before? Please help, thanks!

Steppers appear stuck if the pulses per rev frequency is too high.

A stepper with poor electrical connection can make a bad noise that I would describe as growling. Not enough power to motors --> poor movement or no movement.
My suspicion is not enough power, test the power supply.
