Hi guys,

id like to start a discussion on how to setup a dc power supply for servos. I have been stripping a bunch of older boss Bridgeport machines in favor of installing modern control systems. in the process i have been squirreling away all the transformers / capacitors / bridge rectifiers and i am wondering if i can re-purpose some of these items for future builds

I understand the basic concept of the transformer converting the voltage, the bridge rectifier converting the power from ac to dc and the capacitor /s smoothing the signal and i am quite intrigued by this.

are there guidelines / formulas on how to determine capacitance / bridge rectifier size etc ?

any examples of power supplies you have built for your machines ?

thanks !

joe
