Have not had this laser long. 30w split unit from ebay.

I'm having a hell of a time getting clean marks once hatched.
if I just follow the contour, they look great.

Looking at text under a magnifier, I can see that the laser has fired outside of the contour.
if I use the "ring like hatch", its fine. but any other hatch leaves marks as if follows the hatch pattern...

attached some pictures, you can see the white dots outside the pattern that follow along with hatch.

what am I doing wrong here?

Nothing's wrong, HAZ - heat affected zone, wrong laser to wrong material, if this is metal, too much power on the martial,
in order to lower the problem, either lower power, but it still will be there, so change it to cold marking, other green or uv, or piko green or piko uv.

What material r u trying to marking?

Try changing some of setting on the actual text.

Our laser software (right click on the word ) Step, speed, power % overlap

The material is mild steel, piece of square tubing to be exact. just something I had around I could test on.
I change the hatch to 1mm to better illustrate.

To me it looks like the laser is either firing outside the contour, and or turning off to late.

Basically I'm stuck with using the ring hatch, as it doesn't do this.
