    DeskCNC and setup/config

    Hi all,
I've a strange problem setting up a CNC mill with DeskCNC.
When setting up DeskCNC, and if I sett the Step pr. MM (movement for the axis) to <500, and open a working .dnc file, arcs/circles are not pressent.
If changing the step pr. MM to a value <=500, everything is OK (exept that my machine is usless :| )

    HELP!

    thanks!

MAYCOM: Go to http://www.imserv.com/deskcnc/setup/2.htm, and recheck all of your configurations, per the setup chart. If you find no errors, then go to http://www.imserv.com and click on Trouble shooting the Desk CNC Controller, it is a free download written by Fred Smith of IM Machine. This download has helped me several times.

    Some other simple ideas:
    1) Check the INI file ( go to my computor, open program files, click on Desk CNC,click on the INI file), take some time you wll see how it is configured..check the INI settings with the ones you have in machine set up.
If it does not match, then change it to the ones you have set up. click save.
2)Are you saving each change and closing Desk CNC each time ?

IF all that fails, post all of your configurations in your thread and I will set up my Mill and see what the problem is, maybe..

It is an excellent program, and I admit that I've made some real blunders in setup, but by studying and a little trial and error, have 2 machines that work like a charm.

Not that this is related to your problem in a direct way, but I think I may have read somewhere in the documentation that the screw pitch had to be the same on the X and Y axis to get arc movements (and that if this wasn't the case, you'd have to execute your arcs as a series of short lines)

    My 2 cents

    Thanks for reply
I'm having trouble to open http://www.imserv.com/deskcnc/setup/2.htm.
I'll digg deeper into the .INI file.

(the problem remain even if I execute arcs as line segments to....)

And I do agree; DeskCNC is great! This is my 3rd. setup.

Sorry, try http.//www.imsrv.com/, click Desk CNC,left sifde of page gives you the down loads. My suggestion is to make a note book with Fred Smiths trouble shooting and set up procedures.

Break Arcs into lines, i.e. .00001

If there is software problem, it is usually that the INI file was corrupted some how

IF all else fails, cut and paste all of the machine set up and the entire INI file..maybe we can figure a solution..Any other suggestion from DESK CNC USERS ?

What kind of mill are you using..have pics of your set up?.I'm sure all of us would like to see your shop/equipment !

EWEST:Your very correct, you must program Arcs as lines..suggest .00001.
