    Thread Repair

Looking for some help with the Fanuc Guide i thread repair. (32i-Model B)

Specifically im looking into chasing an API thread which for those who dont know are tapered.

After selecting my screw cutting tool (all set in z and x) in MDI i then go to jog mode and into thread repair, as stated, but it tells me to hit reset before i can open the tab. Which in turn cancels my tool offset and then gives me the machine position in ABSOLUTE readout.
I’ve gone through the guide i process as stated, all makes sense but when i come to put thread details in on the ‘general thread detail’ column the Absolute position in X is showing -923.2! One would assume that this should be my active Tool offset and not machine position? Granted for most threads the X value isn’t overly important. However as its tapered i need a set point in X to start and end point in X to finish (along with Z of course).

Anybody had any similar issues with this? Or am
    I missing something obvious?
