    Fanuc 15M scaling using G51

    Does anyone have a working example of scaling (G51) on a 15M? I have tried every conceivable permutation without success. It simply ignores the block.

    Of course if I enter my scaling P value as decimal is complains so I know the block is being read. I assume P0.5 is P500?

    I tried this:
    %
    O1001
    G54G90G00X0Y0
    G51X0.0Y0.0I500J500K1000
    G01X1.0F6.
    G50
    M30
    %

    I've also tried:
    G51X0.0Y0.0P500
    G51I0.0J0.0P500

    I've been tinkering with this for a few days and just cannot get it to take it.

    Have you tried using the X & Y for scaling ?
    ie
    X1.0 =100%
    X2.0 =200%
    X0.5Y1.5=X@50% Y@150%

    Thanks for the manual.

    It looks like I need to set some parameters:
    6400.1
    6410
    6421

    At present 6400.1 is 0 (0.0001). I'm not sure what 6410 & 6421 should be set as.

    Also, at the bottom of page 291 there is this note. I couldn't find good details of parameter 7611.4. Not sure what is should be.
    The scaling factor is common to all axes. Different scaling factors can, however, be specified for each axis
    using bit 4 (XSC) of parameter 7611. The scaling factors are specified for each axis with parameter 6421. Scaling is not applied to an axis whose scaling factor is specified as 0. The scaling factors for each axis cannot, however, be specified by the CNC program.

    I haven't. I was hoping to use G51 to scale some engravings without too much modification.

    ...I see another setting on page 292...."NOTE 4 Parameter 12 specifies for each axis whether the scaling function is effective or ineffective."

    Just in case you missed it. Good time to Backup all your machine tool parameters maybe too. Lets us know how things go.
