    Mach4 Outside cuts to BIG,

    Hello everyone

I been having problems with this for a while now, seams to come and go
I am running Mach 4 with a SmothStepper ESS
when i try to cut outside a part it is always about 1/8 to big
I messed around with this all day and cant figure it out for the life of me,
don't matter what i try it is always the same,
I tried to remove g43 and g49 my tool table are all zeros
but when it cuts something on the inside, it cuts the right size, just on outside cuts

    Anyone have any ideas ??
    Thanks

    I attached my gcode

Re: Mach4 Outside cuts to BIG,

Are you using a CAM program to generate these toolpaths? If so, which one? It sounds like it's applying a tool offset which is incorrect for the tool you're using. What's the diameter of that tool?

That program has so many tiny G3 moves it makes me dizzy. Any decent backplot software will show what it should be, Camotics isn't great and that's all I've got on this computer.
    Max X 23.125
    -Min X 0.875
    =22.25 subtracting 0.25 em makes a 22" wide part. Sound right ?
My eagle eye may have missed a X limit somewhere.

I agree.. your CAM program is doing it..... a Tool Diameter setting or cutting condition statement.

I used Inventor HSM 2019, the part is 22 inch wide, with a 1/4 in tool, I think i have some studding to do hehe, but i been using this for years and not have a problem
I adjusted the steps per inch, make sure that was right and i think i might be losing some steps
I put some new motors not to long ago, and i think they are total junk

Oops I now notice you signed up here 15+ years ago so this isn't your first rodeo.

When a problem doesn't fit logic or theory sometimes all we're left with is checking connections and swapping out parts. Hopefully it all works out some way.

re my comment on the many little arcs: the corner arcs look like standard fillets but that's just a guess. Only you know the exact part geometry or how it was created.
And if it works it works, it was just an observation.
