Hello Everyone

I would like to reduce some RF interference.
I found this suggested by the people at Gecko
I already did method one and would like to do method 2 and 3
I contacted Digikey and the guy suggested a couple parts

For method two,20 to 50 uH chokes, the guy was not sure, something was unclear for him.

For method three he suggested this parts

That capacitor is 100$ cnd and need 4,

can i used the less expensive one, or i need the ceramic one ????

METHOD ONE:

Use a shielded 5-conductor cable for your motor to drive connection; 4 of the wires go to the motor leads while the 5th goes to the motor case. Return the motor case wire to the drive’s power supply ground connection. Ground the shield to your electronics control box at the control box end only, leaving it disconnected at the drive end.

METHOD TWO:

Install 20 to 50 uH chokes in series with each motor wire as close to the drive as is practical. The choke outputs go to the cable described above.

METHOD THREE:

Install an L-C low pass filter (pi section) from your power supply to the drives. Make L 100uH; make C 1uF non-inductive (multi layer ceramic capacitor). Use this in addition to both of the above.

What is the result of the RFI?
Do you have efficient shielding and Earth Grounding, Star Ground and power commons at GND etc?

I been losing steps, all my cables are shielded cables, all the grounds are good

Lost steps is unlikely to be caused by RFI short of putting step and direction for multiple drivers into the same cable or operating next to a plasma or arc welding machine. If you suspect cross talk, test your system with one axis at a time to verify that the interference is coming from another axis or without the plasma or arc systems active.

The types of RFI filtering recommended by Gecko were intended to help minimize the RFI >from< the Geckodrivers interfering with auto or radio systems nearby.
