Here's a complete scan of the owner's packet from my AN-S. I figured this is a slightly different model from Yeltrow's, so this could be useful for folks who have the imperial version. Most pages appear to be photocopied instead of mimeographed, so it's a little more readable too. Enjoy!

So the question - I noticed that there's quite a bit of play in the Y-axis of my machine and it looks like it needs a gib adjustment. Has anyone performed this operation on an AN-S or similar machine with box ways?

Hi Josh - thanks for posting your manual. The Yeltrow manual was actually mine and it's actually a pretty faithful image of what I have. The fact is that my manual is in a pretty poor state, so I've downloaded yours as a much more readable document!

Yes, I adjusted the gibs on the Y axis. It was pretty tricky, as you need to be able to determine when the gibs are biting and then back off. Given that there are 3(?) of them on the Y axis, it's quite a job, especially when you can't disconnect the ballscrew and move the table by hand. Removing the belt and turning the ballscrew by hand was the best I could do but a load meter on the servo drive might have been a neater way to indicate the drag on the axis.
