    Upgrade controller from MK1 toMK3/4?

I have a machine I built about 10 years ago, using the Mark1 controller.
I am experiencing a consistent identical repetitive "clunk" sound from all three axis motors when it traverses.
X and Y are older NEMA 23 Pacific Scientific 612235D but Z is a much newer NEMA 17 LIN 4118L.
    Driver is a Gecko G540
For this, and several other reasons, including software and hardware improvements, I am considering moving to the MK3/4 controller.
One thing that I am very curious about is how the MK3/4 might change (increase?) achievable feed speed.
How difficult would the conversion be?
How similar are the output connector configurations from the MK1 to the MK3/4.
Do I need to change power supply voltages?
Does my antique Mk1 controller have and any trade in value? ;-)

Re: Upgrade controller from MK1 toMK3/4?

Mk3/4 controller is able to generate much higher step frequency than Mk1. This would increase available feed speed.
Conversion should be simple and quick.
You can configure controller output pins to your desired configuration. This is a very easy task to do.
MK3/4 Controller can be supplied with 8-24VDC. So if you have PSU in such range you do not need to replace it with new one.
