    Inlay pocket help

Hi Guys , attached is a drawing of what i want to cut a pocket for . This is for a backgammon board inlay , the pocket needs to have a pointed cut on the end . When i draw it the end cuts round , can anyone point me in the right direction . Bobcad v29 version

    Thanks

It's not possible to cut a pocket with a point that is smaller than the cutter radius. About the closest you can come to a sharp point is with a laser, a sharp knife, or a really tiny cutter.

The only way to avoid getting the cutter radius is to use the V Carve option which you should have with V29.

This toolpath needs a V shaped tool for the finish and you will need to machine an angle (Chamfer) on the inlay piece to get a nice fit.

Example file attached that may be of use to you

    V Carve will do it
Here is an image of how the inlay would need to be machined, viewed from below

Are you on Windows or Mac PC?

If windows just click on the file and you should get a small dialog like this

Select the Open with option and you should be able to see the BobCAD file as below,

The file was created with V28 Pro so unless you are using a Demo version of V29 which won`t open a licensed version file you can either Copy and paste the BobCAD file and then open in your V29 or just click the Open option and it should automatically launch your V29.

    Hope that helps
