RnRMotion breakout board and STEPPERONLINE VFD

    Hello,

It's 4 damn days that I'm trying to connect my RnRMotion bob to my STEPPERONLINE VFD and control the speed of the spindle.
If I simply follow the wiring diagram that i found online I should connect the AVI to AI1, ACM to GND and OUT2 to X1(forward signal). Nothing work this way.
When i give M3 command to activate the spindle the 24V tension is from OUT2 to 24V and not from OUT2 to DCM.
Also I haven't understood if I have to provide the board whit a 10V input in order to use AVI PWM signal.

With countless combinations the best result I got was controlling spindle on off and spindle speed but even when PWM signal was at full voltage the vfd frequency never exceeded.

Has someone ever used this combination of VFD and BOB?

    Hi,
these are the joys of a cheap Chinese controller......no manufacturer backup....at all.

Buy a decent US or European made board.

First you have to check the output from the Breakout Board and get that part working before you connect to the VFD Drive, so with a meter check AVI and ACM

Command a M3S12000 this should give you around 5v change the S12000 to S6000 and see if your voltage is half

Once you have this working through control configuration then you can connect it to the VFD Drive

You should not be using output 2 for anything to do with the VFD Drive control

You could also have your VFD Drive Parameters set incorrect as well

You need to add power to the 10V terminal with a value of 10V

I think they show simple example of wiring that you should not blindly follow.
Some of the VFD could be programmed to use positive or negative signal and to accept start from its panel or remote, one has to program it.
The motion control card BOB that you mention probably has open collector output and you need to provide power to it and if you cannot mach polarity to VFD use isolation relay.
    It’s easy to get frustrated,
