I have been looking into using the BT30 MX spindle upgrade in a Series 3 machine. It comes with a VFD. The control board may need upgraded to run a newer version of PathPilot as well as the motor. It says in the installation instructions for the spindle upgrade that you need to have the servo upgrade as well. Does any one have any idea why this is? A better question is why hasn’t Tormach put a kit together for the Series 3? I would think that they would sell well.

I figured that but there’s a load more people that can afford a spindle upgrade than an MX. Besides that if I were going to throw down that kind of money it wouldn't be on a Tormach. The fact is the MX is just a churched Series 3 based machine anyway. It would just show some good will on their part to do a kit. They already make all of the parts to do it. The factory support would be nice though.

Upgrading my 1100 would mean changing 50+ tool holders also. This would make me think twice. But if I had to replace a spindle, It would be nice to have a couple options. I would enjoy an mx enclosure with coolant tank at front. My 1100 stand is no fun to clean and care for when it comes to coolant. One of the only things I dread caring for
