They look the same, Conventional and Climb cutting

I am resurfacing and noticed climb was a better cut with my machine. In Vectric, I cannot force climb, it does both.

In Vectric I can select climb or conventional however on the tool path preview they basically look the same. With conventional it moves from zero to the far X+ limits then does one X- pass as climb then steps over and does a conventional pass back to the X+ limit, etc. . Same with the Climb, starts in the same place and cuts climb then conventional.

I would like to use climb only. Anyone know what I am missing?

    Thanks.

What type of toolpath are you using?

Not familiar with Vectric, but in some CAM applications, the simulation assigns different colors to the tool paths; red for rapids, green for feeds, blue for retracts, etc. When you slow the simulation down, you can more easily differentiate what is happening when. Are you sure they are feeds in both directions and are in fact cutting? Just a thought. May be a tool path selection issue.

I did a sample climb run, and it is as I mentioned. Vectric has a simulator and it is the same as I have experienced.

My limited exposure to Vectric has left me with a sense of frustration in several respects.Simulation is really fast but some of the more detailed stuff seems to be a real battle as we see in this thread. It seems to have been developed in it's own bubble and has some very "individual" aspects.

The arrows showing toolpath direction should change when you go from climb to conventioinal.
It works fine for me here.
It may have something to do with the size and shape of your pocket, though.

Can you post a sample file showing it both ways?

The tool path arrows do change, right, left, etc. I would like to figure out how to force left (climb).

    Here they are.
