Is this used Epilog a money pit or a lucky find?

I have mechanical/electrical skills but I've never had to repair a laser cutter before. Also, not entirely sure he's using the right verbiage for the missing part.

What would I be taking on if I bought this and tried to get it up and running? I found this old datasheet, and noticed I'd need a computer running Windows 95/98 but I don't see that as a bad thing...

Am I crazy for thinking about buying this?

Oooh, that's an old one. 21 years old, in fact.

I've built (and rebuilt) a few lasers and don't know what he means by a "laser eye". If he means the laser source that's expensive. If he means the lens it's fairly cheap (still $100 or so.)

My concern would be that control boards and drivers and such have come a long way since then. Depending on what software you are designing in it might be hard to run your design software and laser cutter software on the same machine. Epilog makes nice machines, though.

    Here's a manual: https://www.epiloglaser.com/download...ius_manual.pdf

Thanks for the tip. I think you're right - might be taking on more than it's worth in the long run.
