    Speeds and Feeds

    Hi all
Wondering what spindle speed and feed rate people are using to mill hdpe. My top speed is 4600 rpm on my cnc'd mini mill and I have some hdpe parts to cut, I played around with it some last night but not happy with results. Any help would be great!!

Well it could be High Density PolyEthylene.
If it's poly then you can run max spindle rpm.
Adjust feedrate to where the cutting looks its best... just experiment with the value for a particular cut.

The main thing is to keep a blast of cool air blowing at the cutter. More is better.

    Note:
If you don't keep the PE chips as cool as possible they will get too sticky and then it melts into a glob.
(Glob = technical term for "blob")

    Suggestion:
Keep a ShopVac hose sucking up the chip stream helps keep the cutter visible -so you can see whats happening.

    Good luck,
    Pres
