The only time I've ever had my hands on a FANUC engineering panel is on the model 200B control. Most are found on old amada punch presses. I believe they are the only way to change parameters on this particular control.

This panel has the function of stopping the control on the plc side. For troubleshooting. Write or read an address. This unit has a p/n A02B-0046-C902, maybe someone who work for Fanuc may have seen this unit. It also has P.C.B. A20B-0046-0900.

Lots of Fanuc controls can be fitted with engineering panels, but they're typically only used in a shop that's set up to repair circuit boards.

The old 200 controls had a built-in engineering panel that was used to load the exec tape, change parameters, perform diagnostics, etc. Newer Fanuc models just have a plug somewhere that would let you plug in an engineering panel for service work. Personally, I've never seen one for the later models (like the Fanuc 6) but I do know that they exist. There's a plug for it, and there's an "ENPANE" selection on the ILD display to enable the panel.

Basically, an engineering panel is a bunch of switches that lets you manually control the address buss and see the status of the the data buss. You can halt the microprocessor, or manually put any data into any memory address, etc. It's really only useful for messing around with the microprocessor at the lowest level, which is why we don't see them anymore.

The programming gizmos for the PLCs are not the same as an engineering panel.
