    I designed a type of mask intended to protect wearers of it as well as those around them. It's based on HEPA vacuum bags that filter out 99.7% of sub-micron particles, has a wire going all the way around the edge to insure a good fit, and doesn't require sewing. Here's a video showing how to make them:
