Does anyone know: why was the Seig kx1 discontinued?

Looking around it seems like the Seig KX1 has been discontinued. I'm curious if anyone knows why?

    (see: https://littlemachineshop.com/produc...ProductID=3501)

Seems like a reasonable route if one doesn't want to do a conversion?

Thanks in advance for any insights.

I've seen KX1 or re-badged KX1 recently on Aliexpress. Not sure if it was recently manufactured or NOS.
Anyone who says "It only goes together one way" has no imagination.

Because it isn't that great for the price perhaps?

    It's a glorified Sieg X2.
Travel distances are poor. Not great MT2 taper. Not very rigid. Motor weak.

I'd rather save for a Syil X4 if I had to. Or get a used small vmc maybe.

I have a converted Sieg X2 and was never really happy with it.
Just converted a PM25 type machine and what a difference!!!!!!!!
Price wise there wasn't a huge difference between the 2 conversions.
Bit extra on better screws, bearings and material.

Interesting, I have seen this mentioned elsewhere. Why do folks prefer the Syil? Are they that much better?

Since they start at 10K, couldn't one buy a Tormach? Still, these are 5-10 time the cost of an X2 conversion or the KX1, right?

It is pretty difficult to find one and I think they discontinued it too.
There are variety of other options you can choose from.
Why would you bother buying kx1 when there are many other options out there.

I'm open to other options, but the price seemed reasonable for the features, kind of a middle ground between an sieg x2 conversion and a Tormach.

Do you have some suggestions on other options I should explore?

    Thanks!

I wouldn't say no to a Tormach. Trouble is to me it's the addons. Once you get the enclosure - toolchanger etc you're looking near 20K.
