Has anyone built a CNC machine with a feed system for the y axis?

Not sure where to ask this question but the CarveWright system uses a rolling feed system for the Y axis and I was wondering if anyone has made a larger sturdier version themselves? It would be nice to have a machine that took less floor space when not in use. Anyone have advice on things that could be used to make such a system if not.

This is the closest thing I've seen.

This is maybe not quite what you had asked for, but here is another idea for a space saving router.
