Fanuc 6MB - LSK INC issue tranfering programm

    Hi everyone,

we have an issue transferring program on an Fanuc 6MB (issue both upload or download)

we put it on EDIT mode then press O-9999 READ nothing try P-9999 PUNCH

it stays on the screen O-9999 or P-9999

I've double check the protocol the same on both 4800 7 - 1 - EVEN

I've change the cable (bough a new one and tested)

    same issue.

the other guy say it might be a chip on the EPROM card chip 10 and chip 20 (but i disagree) what do you guys think ?

I've check for a switch that could be broken but nothing and the switch on the main board is turn to OFF and there is no light on the main board at would indicate an error .

diag: # 41 was changing when i was moving from EDIT - TAPE - JOG -etc... so the contact is good there.

no E-STOP is engage as i can work with the machine in manual mode

Could it be the EPROM card ? does anyone now what the chip 10 and 20 doe son the EPROM Card ?

    thank again for the help

Looks like you have the stop bits set wrong for input device 2. Your pics show you have device 2 set for 2 stop bits but in your post you say you are using a setting of 1 on the sending end. Parameter 311 needs to change. And don't touch the roms. That's my 2 cents

Not completely familiar with an old 6M. But the normal syntax to punch or output programs on a Fanuc is O8 or O0008 to send the number 8 program on your control to the storage device. 8000 and 9000 series programs are many times protected by parameter or MTB. In order to transfer a range of of programs you have to have a comma available on your keypad. Copy all programs from 1-7999 syntax would be O0001,O7999 Punch and/or cycle start. Not familiar with your transfer device and how you work it to transfer programs from it to the machine. Anyway... again the syntax is Capital O with the program number. No dash or anything.

    same issue :
    change to 4800 311 -312 -313 Attachment 444504

    parameter :
    punch code = 1
    input unit = 1
    device 1 = 0
    device 2 = 0

still get does not transfer neither upload or download stay on O-9999 read or P-9999 punch
    LSK INC (firm not blinking)

machine and module and computer are close i should be able to run it at 9800 yes but i from what i read 4800 is the safe way. at this point i just want it to work. after we can play with the speed i will be more than happy believe me.

for the module we are using this.

Are you trying to run a BTR system for big files that don't fit in memory? Or just upload and download smaller programs? To establish rs232 comms I would manually enter a simple program into the control using the keypad and then punch it out, keep adjusting your settings until the data transfers to your pc ok. I just use a windows pc and ncnet lite software which can be legally downloaded for free.

    A simple program like

    O0001
    G91 G28 Z0.
    G91 G28 X0. Y0.
    M30

Easy to type in, and you can punch it out until you get the results you want. I think your issue is a combination of handshaking settings on the pc side, and baud /stop bit settings on the machine side.

If you try to punch that simple program out (get pc ready to receive, machine in edit mode, O1 punch) and nothing happens on the pc then you may have cable or control problems. If you get gibberish on the pc when you punch it out then you have settings mismatched.

I use a very short cable and talk to my fanuc 6 machines at 2400 baud. Faster seems to cause trouble.

If you pm me I can do a bit of phone support since I see you're also Canadian.

yes it used to work - model is 6mb fanuc okuma 4va

it was working before - when i came back it wasn't working - the guy said he just power it on and wasn't working anymore . there was a program in the machine before and he couldn't erase it.
then he did a master erase (whatever that mean !?) and now it doesn't work.

but i know it was working be for i just can't recall the protocol i've used (didn't wrote it down from last time, i know i should had).

The other tech think it is related to the EPROM card two chips (cause we bough and old car from ebay that said it was tested and functional from ebay seller) and he saw that two chips where change on that card so he believe those two chips on our EPROM might have the same issue chip 10 and chip 20

I've try to tell him that EPROM card are like RAM memory in the PC and those are just the address but he argues other wise.

I still don't believe it the EPROM card and the issue is more the protocol or a false contact somewhere.Attachment 444508Attachment 444510Attachment 444512Click image for larger version.
