I just finished my first cnc router. Wood frame, Arduino uno, 20mm rods for x and y axes, 12m for z axis, 2 linear bearings for each axis, Nema 23 stepper motors, power supply, and tb6600 drive controllers. During testing, the y axis failed and determined that the drive controller for the y axis was bad.

After some research, I beame aware of the potential problems with these drive controllers and a myriad of alternatives, including alternative drive
controllers and integrated "shields" that include the controllers.

I am a newbie. Not terribly electronically or mechanically gifted. I built this machine to do woodworking - cut out parts, pictures, etc.

What is the general concensus of what I should do if I go away from the tb6600. I've seen suggestions to make my own drive controller (THB6064AH) ,
boards with integrated A4988 or DRV8825 chips, gShield, and g540 from gecko, to name a few.

Money, up to a few hundred dollars, is not a constraint.

Appreciate any recommendations. I am frustrated and just want to get my CNC up and running.

Thanks.

Jim
