Stepper motor changes direction when loaded

Hello I build an CNCmill two years ago and it has been working good since than until today... when the drill goes into the material and The stepper motor gets a little more load it canges direction until it the drill hits the other side than it changes direction again... if I just drives the avis with no load and keeps tapping the X+ Button then it randomly changes direction. Any ideas? Thankful for answers.

    Hello.

I suggest you look for rusty connectors.

I just had a problem where one motor didn´t change direction. It happended to be a rusty connector. I replaced the female connector and cleaned the male connector on the drive using flux as that used for electronics servicing rubbing it with a cotton swap. No problem since.

While not exactly your problem I think it´s worth checking.

    Regards.

Agreed sounds like a faulty connection so check all electrics. Peter
