Hello Everybody

I am building a new metal box to hold my Gecko G540 motor driver and 48 v power supply along with a couple of 12v relays, for mist and spindle on/off.

The case has several vent holes/slots on the bottom and back. Now the question... Should my 80mm 12v fan blow into the box and directly at the G540 as much as possible? OR should the fan blow out of the case thereby evacuating the heat?

Its probably a wash but I think it would be better to direct the flow of cooler outside air into and onto the G540.

What does the collective wisdom of the crowd here have to say about this?

When I built my enclosure, I used one fan sucking and another fan blowing, on the opposite side of the case. This gives me a a crossflow of cooling air.
A single fan, to me just didn't seem to be able to cover all the bases.
But if you are set on using one fan, I guess it would be best to blow cool air onto the warmest part of your installation. when you draw air out from a warm place, I think it would be difficult to ensure you were able to remove the warm air you wanted.
Just my thoughts....

Also, good thermal design would have cool air in at the bottom and warm air out at the top, but I guess this doesn't apply to a desktop case.
