    Sharp 2412 spare M code

I'm stuck on locating a spare M code function and its firing wire # and finish signal (canceling) wire #. Its a Sharp 2412 2004 model with an OI Mate MB control. Manuals make no mention I could find but I see that current Sharp 2412 machines come standard with 4 spare M functions. Any help/ideas would be much appreciated.

My machine came with 4 extra relays - M codes 81-84. I also found that there were another 4 outputs for relays that were unused when i was looking through the ladder logic - M codes 71,73,75,77 (cancelled by M72, M74, M76, M78 respectively). I had to trace the wires for these outputs and installed additional 24 volt relays. The wires were Y539-Y542. These wires were bundled together with a ton of other unused and marked connections using electrical tape and hidden behind other wiring in the wiring loom. The wires go high (24V) when turned on by the correct M code and then are pulled low when turned off. I believe that your machine will likely have the M71-77 outputs. Not sure about the other M codes as it looks like someone added to the ladder for my M81-84 codes (i bought the machine used - it is a 2005)

If you send me a copy of your ladder i can help you trace the wires.

We have a Sharp SVG-8540. We installed an indexer using the spare M codes.
On ours the M codes come in two flavors. 2 are setup as M command on M command off as M31 on M32 off. You turn on your code the program continues with your option on until you turn it off. The other two work the same as the two above but you are given the option of waiting until the program recieves an complete singal. It took us a while to figure this out. Using ours as an example M50 sends a singal to the indexer to rotate. Now you would assume that M51 would be the singal to turn it off that is not the case and you not find a output on your panel to do this. Instead when you look at the M50 line on your ladder you will see an 50 fini on two branches on the rung. One is NC the other is NO the PLC defaults to NC. The Value of the contact is K0004.2 on ours. We changed this for 0 to 1 and default changes to NO. Now the machine waits for the M50 limit before continuing. On your ladder drawings you will find an output for the M50 (in our case ) Y008.4 find that and connect it to your spare contact. Then find the input for the M50 limit input X008.4 (in our case) and run your finish singal to it. Hope this get you going in the right direction.

Re: Sharp 2412 spare M code

Found this old thread and I'm having the same questions- want to find out if my machine has spare relays or the ability to add them. I don't know much about reading ladders but I have the ladder "booklet" that came with my used machine. Can someone help me by chance?

I have a 2412 and I'd like to know too, I'm considering getting a rotary indexer. Not sure which ones (if any) could be used on these machines with the Oi Mate MC control.

Is there a way to decide more definitively? I can't get Sharp to call me back.

I spoke with Index Designs (in California) and they were fairly confident their indexer + control box would work just fine on our sharp machines.
