    Mori MH40 with fanuc 16

So I find myself asking a question I try alot to avoid, on machines under my control.

I have the opportunity to purchase locally a 95 vintage MH-40. The current owner has let the batteries go totally flat. He allowed my to come over and put a cord on it to see where it stands. On power-up the control displays the following,

What are the chances that Mori will still have the Parameters and PMC data for this machine?

Why does it have both the D-cell battery case and the small green battery on the control? It has 6066 type redcap drives (the Robocop looking ones) I didnt think they were absolute?

Make SURE that spindle is good. MH40s are absolutely one of the toughest machines to do a spindle on. And yes, the D cells are for the absolute encoders. Id also try to clear that ram parity error first. Thats not usually the alarm after parameter loss.

What is the exact control version? e.g. 16B, 16C.
This alarm could indicate an hardware problem in the MAIN unit. It may be one-time or permanent. Unless the owner has a complete sram backup, getting the control restored to working condition can be a lengthy process.
