I am building a CNC and am up to the gantry and have it fabricated...One thing I was aware of at time I fab'ed it was the way it was to be fabricated...I have secured 2 each 3 x 2-.188 wall steel rectangular tubes 53 " long together to create a 4x3 tube assembly...This thing is solid/heavy...The weight of the steel only is 50lbs a bit more than I expected...I kind of guessed at the weight before i looked it up per foot as going to be about 35-40lbs...Even so I probably would have done it anyway ...
So, I guess what I'm asking is this out of realm? There will be 2 ea. Nema 24 motors powering this gantry.
Nema 24 stepper CNC motor with a step angle of 1.8degrees and a size of 60x60x100mm. It has 4 wires, draws 4.2A per phase and has a holding torque of 4.2Nm(594.77oz.in).
