Hi All - I use UCCNC CAM for profile work. Sometimes when doing circles or arcs it puts a little backstep at the tangent. Can't seem to get it to happen on purpose or set it up so it does not happen. Any clues? Peter

Do you have backlash comp enabled?

Hi Gerry - No compensation on, just checked it. I Import dxf from Rhino3D. I have played with the dxf settings but it happens occasionally. Happens to anybody else? Peter
I haven't heard of this from anyone else.
WHat are you using for cam?

Hi Gerry - For profiles or simple pockets I use the CAM in UCCNC. If I use visualcam it does not do it. When UCCNC generates the code you can zoom in on the toolpath and see it. So I just made a circle in rhino, divided it into two arcs. Checked it in rhino and it doesn't have any invalid lines or "tails: then exported it in dxf (then opened ther dxf in rhino to check its OK which it is) then in UCCNC it puts the tails on the arcs when generating gcode, see image. Then I did the process again and it didn't do it!! Lucky to capture it. Peter
Then it's an issue with the way the UCCAM works.
I've never used it, as I could not create any .dxf files that it would even load.

Hi Gerry - I've used dxfs from lots of sources and never had an issue, interesting. If the jobs simple its easier to do in UCCNC then muck about in mechcam, import G code etc etc. I usually split arcs into polylines in the dxf settings in rhino. This sidesteps the arc "tail" issue. I'll soldier on... Peter
