Bridgeport 2000 V2XT (DX-32) Drive Enable drop out problem

I have a Bridgeport V2XT Knee mill (year 2000) with original DX-32 control.
Used to work fine, but recently have an issue where it suddenly acts like the drives are not enabled any more.
When it happens, I can hear the "thump" when the drives loose power. So far its always happened when the machine is not moving.
After it happens, the software still thinks the drives are enabled, but no attempt to move the axis has any effect.
The DX-32 software itself becomes a bit sluggish in certain places as a result also.
The only way I've found to restore it is to reboot/cycle power.
Has anyone seen this problem before? Id like to get an idea of whether its likely to be BMDC board, or the PC?
I tried reseating the BMDC and cleaning the contacts, and putting in a different socket on the motherboard.
    Thanks for any ideas.

    ...20 year olds know everything..
.check the Power supply voltage-ages to the PC would be good start. try Booting into the PC BIOS and look for any Voltage Monitoring.
    or this may help

I checked and the bios does have voltage measurements. All but the +12 looks ok. The +12 says 11.24. That could well be a problem. See screenshot.

I'll look into replacing the supply.

...thats good your MB has a PC Health page. Looks like the CPU VCore is a little low too, should be 1.25-1.35 range. I also see the VBAT 2.89 which is the CMOS Battery backup on the motherboard. (I think) should be above 3.1v or so. Maybe it would be a good idea to make a List of ALL the Bios settings before doing anything with the Battery or Power Supply. Backup ALL your Parameters and HDD too while the machine is still running ok.

    enjoy,
    DJ
