Quick question on CNC conversion ball screw maintenance , PM25 arizonacnckits

    Hi -

Looking for some quick feedback / info on how often its needed to lube a ball screw given the use conditions below:

    - Purchase the kit https://www.arizonacnckits.com/pm-25-cnc-kit.html and install
    - Use the mill about 2h per week on average.
    - Nothing crazy, Alum and plastic. Low to med loads.

How often would I need to oil (grease ?) the ball screw nut via the port/fitting?

I did a search, but some threads are over a yr old.
    https://www.cnczone.com/forums/taig-...0-cnc-cad.html

    thanks in advance.

    AG
(PS if there are any other maintenance tips on the ball screw, feel free to share a link)

...yes Mobil Vactra #2 is about the most common waylube oil used. But, maybe grease is a better option with some conditions.

Well thankyou for the PDF. Based on that particular brand, they recommended:

"As a rule of thumb, replenish grease at least every 600-800 hours"

So with my Mill / usage and the low hours of only 2-3 per week... it suggests I could lube every 1-2 yrs or even more. (But prob best to go longer as it could dry out)

I run way oil but never added it to my ball screws. I don't grease them very often. Maybe annually. The Z screw stays pretty clean. As does X. The Y-Axis screw is probably the one that needs the most maintenance.

I'd think some nice way covers would make a big difference.

Thanks CL_MotoTech, that's what I'm thinking too, annually.

Good tip on the way covers. Have them now, will make sure they do the job.
