My father recently restored a Cincinnati lathe. This is his first real machine tool and he's really getting into it.

I'd like to purchase him a reasonably decent set of files that are appropriate for metal lathe use as an XMAS present.

I found some Nicholson files, they look quite nice. I'm not sure which ones to get really. Knowing my father, he will use these files on steel, aluminum, copper, brass, plastic, you name it. So perhaps a file brush is in order too?

Perhaps one of you gents with more lathe experience than I can provide a recommendation? He does a lot very simple lathe projects, nothing particularly exotic, but the machine (no surprise) is increasingly handy to him.
