My book is not too clear as to what I need to do with this error. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have never seen that one, but the info I have says that editing and I/O cannot be continued and to contact Mitsubishi service and give the classification number of the error (18).
Does it occur on program editing or download?

Seems to be a file saving issue. Do you know how to reformat?

I have had similar cryptic messages to contact Mitsubishi and it has turned out to be a defective eprom, identified by the classification number, and they sent out a new set for installation. Do you have the number for Mits. Chicago, you can usually get some one rightaway, (Unlike Fanuc!!).

    Zeroing out Dynamyte 4400

When I zero out the X,Y and Z axis, I am not able to move them after they reach their home positions. Do I need to enter in the data somewhere? Presently I select Zero Home and push each axis button. All three home buttons light up, then I can do no more.

Sounds like the soft limit parameters need to be re-set. You can check these in the process parameters.

    To reformat the program memory:

Go into the machine parameters. Let me know if you need instructions on doing this.

    Set parameter 1166 fix_p to 1

Go to the program erase page. Type the word 'FORMAT' in the second set of brackets and press <input>. Like this:
    ( )(FORMAT )( )

The control will respond with 'ERASE COMPLETE'.

Go to the Input page and type the number 4 into the first set of brackets:
    (4)( )( )

Press <input> and the control will load in the canned cycles.

Turn the control off and back on again.

Just wanted to touch base and say thanks to everyone. I am now working on the DNC using the free one that is talked of. That's today's project.

    Thanks Again

    Hello, my name Herin.
Sorry I cant find the "ERASE" softkey/button in "IN/OUT".

My controller is Meldas 530, I want formatting the memory but I can't find the "ERASE" button on that step.
    Anyone can help?
