    Question Pulley/Socket Size Calculations Needed

I have a amateur radio tower that tilts at the base and I raise and lower it with a witch and a drill motor. The witch is worm driven and rated at 4500lbs. The witch is not the problem.

The drill motor that I am using is rather old and I would like to convert it over to belt and pulleys or chain a sprocket.

The drill is 115 volts and 5 amps at 600 rpm. I think it calculates to about .771HP and about 6.7 pounds/foot. And it is all that I can handle when first engage from the start position going up.

My questions is what motor size and pulley size or sprocket size would I need to accomplish the same or close to the same results.

I appreciate any help or suggestions.

    Thanks,
    Jim

A 1HP 1725 RPM motor and a 3:1 reduction would give you similar performance, with a little wiggle room for overload.
