Can these cheap drivers give the same good performance as a Gecko?

Personally I think Gecko are over priced and rely on yesterdays reputation. There are much better controllers but I found Longs Motors DM542a drivers were equally as good and supported 25x microstepping which worked well for me until I upgraded to Lam Technology DS1076a drivers which leave Gecko for dead!
