    EFR Laser Power Supply

I recently bought an EFR F2 80w Laser tube for my 60w machine.

I am now looking for a power supply for it.

The laser spec is 28ma (Max) Start voltage 19kv
An EFR power supply to match is 500w 40kv 28ma.

I can't find the power supply in the UK so am looking at alternate makes.

I did buy a Cloudray 80watt 35kv 23ma power supply but I think the amperage is going to be to low? (This one is recommended for an 80watt RECI tube though)
The one already in the machine is a 60W 35kv 25ma. Can I use this with the 80 watt tube as its higher rated or does the lower wattage effect it?

    Thanks
    Jamie!

Just because the tube is rated at 28ma max doesn’t mean that you have to operate at that level. Running a tube at its max for long periods will shorten its life.
The 60 watt PS should work fine until you decide to replace it.

Thanks! What about the Kv does that need to be the same?

For example the power supply recommended is max output 40kv. If I got one that was say 5kv higher/lower would that be ok?

    Re: EFR Laser Power Supply

I’m not that knowledgeable about start voltage. Lasers have some minimum power that is required to start the beam. So it’s either off or on with little dimming between the two. So not like a light bulb. I suspect that start voltage has some influence on this transition between off and on
I wouldn’t be too concerned about it.
