Making an oddball Homag spindle useable?

I have a Homag HF spindle that has an oddball shank on it.

Suggestions on how I might make this a useable router spindle?

As you can see in the pics, the shaft is a weird diameter. Doesn't seem to be a nice round number either imperial or metric.

I was considering having a custom made sleeve made that would chuck onto the end of the shaft and have the "business end" bored for 1/2 inch router bits.

    Any ideas here?

Spindle runs great and it looks like it's easy to replace bearings etc...

    Thanks in advance chip makers!

What's the diameter and pitch on the threaded end? You might be able to screw a collet chuck on there, or make an adapter to facilitate that.

You might do well to look at the volts. Looks like it might have seen service as an edge bander trim station. You might end up spending more to make it work then to buy a new Chinese made spindle.

I've got it hooked to a VFD and it runs great.

Maybe one of these would work, if you made up an internally threaded sleeve to attach it: https://www.mscdirect.com/product/de...rItem=30717417

Any thoughts about turning down the shaft on the spindle by running it while using and grinder mounted on a spare linear stage?
Kinda like a tool post grinder.
