Hi.

We are trying to help our customer, who has issue with Single Board Computer for his machine Thermwood 50
Model of the SBC is QUALOGY 800204-03. He cannot get any video from his EGA video card, we replaced 2 video card, monitor, power supply, moved SBC to different slots, pulled all cards from back-plane board except SBC and EGA card, still no luck. Any suggestions? Does anybody have that board in stock by any chance or knows somebody who can repair it? Manufacture is not able to locate replacement or repair it and of course trying to sell our customer brand new machine. We are debating if we should replace all the capacitors which is extremely time consuming and there are a lot of small capacitors on board and obviously board is old and we dont want to ruin the multilayer circuitry if we dont have to in case there is some simpler solution. Customer is on the budget and not ready for new one yet.

Why not pull out the old control and upgrade to modern hardware? Why screw around with 30 year old computers? You most likely can reuse the drives and motors, just replace the computer and OS. Lots of inexpensive options out there today.

I wouldn't know where to start looking for a specialised board like that.I do know that Thermwood used to make strong claims about keeping their older machines operating and it might be worth asking them if there was such a thing as a less outdated board that could be used.If they get the notion that a change to an entirely different and homebrewed controller is a distinct possibility,the potential loss of a future income stream might encourage them to think creatively.They might still prefer to have a factory tech do some of the work,but it seems less of a loss than junking a very capable machine for the loss of a basic part.
