Hi.

I was wondering if someone could give me tips/pointers on how to automate the use of the Q setter.

My goal is to be able to change inserts or mount established tools with their appropriate offsets, and using established offsets get an automated and accurate measurement.

I have one colleague who spends the first 15 mins of his shift touching off everything in the revolver. I want to either use established cycles or use a macro to automate that.

There are under "Mescycle" some measuring cycles in EZ guide. But I had no luck getting that to work.

The machine will not index the turret or rapid traverse, if the tool setter is activated and in the down position.
Does your Puma have the motorized tool setter?

Hi,

Yes, it is motorized and I can move it up or down with an M code.

OK, so there should be a macro to auto set the tools.
I'm wondering if it isn't already hiding in the CNC's memory someplace.
Fanuc 32? 31? i?
Look in the directories, there may be one.

I have looked and looked for registered macros and made all possible hidden programs visible. And no result yet. There are the cycles I mentioned, but they are a mystery to me how they'd work.

It's a 21iTB controller. I should have mentioned that earlier.

Ok, if there are cycles in there, there has to be documentation. Check your Doosan (not Fanuc) operator's manual.
