I want to use a solenoid on the M7 mist function and I am not sure how to set this up.
I have a 12v solenoid.
I use Mach3 and UC100.

Do I need a relay switch off pin 6 on the G540 and then to the solenoid or do I hook the solenoid directly to the G540, pin 6 and output 2?
Any help would be appreciated.

Rev4 G540 manual shows you connect one side of the DC relay coil to pin 6 and the other side of the coil to positive of the relay power supply. Negative from that PS goes to the negative motor power supply.

So you can power the step drives (in G540) and motors up to 50 volts. But relays are normally 12 or 24 volts. That’s why there are two PS.

If you are running your G540 off 48V you can get relays with a 48V coil removing the need for a 2nd power supply.
