HELP NEEDED - OKUMA LB 10 ATC

    Hello all,
Wondering if anyone knew much about the old Okuma LB 10 Lathes with the OSP 5000 controller.
havnt been using it much and was working ok prior,
but now the tool changer doesn't want to change tools......... all it does is move half inch out .....as it unlocks ( Im guessing ) then rotates half inch and stops.
when i push reset it moves back half inch. so its stuck on tool one.
this happens with manually selecting tool index button and in MIDI.

Any ideas where i could start with some fault finding?

    Thanks in advanced

I posted this request in the "ATC section as well" apologies for double post

    Anyone ?
even a rough guess would do ......

    further info...
i have actuated the hydraulic solenoid manually and does the same .....the turret appears to unlock but fails to rotate much.
have noticed it rotates more ( not much) clockwise then anticlockwise

Sorry, been very busy...Hydraulic motor stuck or solenoid not activating?

    Glad it was resolved.
Experience is what you get just after you needed it.

if you are speaking about the turret?
    Time for maintenance. Check alignment.

Is this LB10 or 10M? Sometimes on M machines toolholder drive doesn’t retract fully causing Jam. Also standard turret can get chips inside if o-ring fails…may also cause Jam. Have you removed the front plate on the turret to check for contamination or signs of corrosion? Usually the hydraulic motor doesn’t fail but is stopped by something else.

Are you getting an alarm when this happens? More details please.
Also if unclamped and the e- stop is pushed, can you rotate the turret by hand?

    Best regards,

Re: HELP NEEDED - OKUMA LB 10 ATC

Thanks guys for the help ....

Ok , further to this problem

Have managed to move the turrent

Ps can't see how to attach photos on my phone
I think it was one of the position switches ..as I have it moving
    But ......
I think I have put one of the switches in a different position as it was rotating to some obscure tool number ...
And now it's not moving , saying it's in

    Tool number 5B ????? Wtf
    See photo

Is there a way I can get to the diagnostic pages and see what switches have been activated ??

Thanks again guys for your help

    Best regards,
Yes removed the front plate , didn't look to bad but was small signs of corrosion

I checked the hydraulic motor which was fine.

Re: HELP NEEDED - OKUMA LB 10 ATC

you start the tool change and press Estop instantly. You need to catch the moment when the turret is unclamped just before indexing ( turret rotation ) starts.

Re: HELP NEEDED - OKUMA LB 10 ATC

    Ok
So i fixed it . I had one of the limit switches reversed. Hard to explain but i took each one apart to check if they were work and one of them i reversed the body part.

Anyway its fixed now , but each tool position is just going past only a small amount and not clamping.
As soon as i press midi then it goes back slightly then clamps.

Im thinking now the position switch needs slight adjustment to correct for its position.

Anyway happy i got this far.

Re: HELP NEEDED - OKUMA LB 10 ATC

i noticed in the manuals theres two bolts/screws ( valves) that adjust the turrent speed and clamping speed.
Any ideas as to how or what's the best why to adjust?

Re: HELP NEEDED - OKUMA LB 10 ATC

    Conditions:
    1. If the number of tools in the turret is correct;
    2. If indexing of the turret is stable.
Just take a good marker and write new version tool numbers on the turret.

Othervise you need to find out what kind of turret position encoding is used. This requires deeper knowledge.

Re: HELP NEEDED - OKUMA LB 10 ATC

Thanks , but the indexing is not stable
    It's all over the place
I put 7 x new limit switches, as on the diagnostic page it showed one was sticking ....I think the clamping switch
So I decided to replace all,
But now it will go past the tool number
    Stop mid way ....
    So basically not indexing
