I am still waiting for the ozone hole to kill us all.

And to add: it's all part of a cycle. Every so many 100's - 1000's of years it happens.
We haven't helped it and lithium batteries will make it worse.
EV's are a dead tech. 10 years and there'll be a landfill the size of Ireland of dead battery cells. Then they'll all explode in a toxic fireball worse than Chernobyl.
Over population worldwide is the problem. It cannot support its size without consequence.
The more there is, the more resources get used and pollute.
We need a population cull by lottery.
To add, electric vehicles aren't an answer. They cause more problems than they solve. Carbon use in production is higher and dead batteries can't easily be recycled, be dumped in landfill and cause land destruction. They also have an average life of 5 years. That's s**t for a 20k+ investment.
The UK gov here won't admit it, but they know we don't have the main elec grid to cope with more demand.
Our ban on new diesel/petrol WILL be delayed, it's inevitable.
They do not produce zero emissions. A recent study in New Zealand which has an electricity grid with close to 100% renewable electricity showed 60% reduction in carbon emissions in a cradle to grave assessment. Countries that have less renewables (most except Norway) will have a lower reduction.
However this excludes the carbon intensity of the infrastructure required to support a car addicted population (concrete, bitumen, quarries etc for road building) and the fact urban sprawl which increases total VMT/VlmT (total distance travelled) is driven by car dependency.
And it excludes non carbon emissions such as tyre and brake particulates, let alone problems with an obesity causing lifestyle.
So we need to reduce the amount of car use as well as using lower emission vehicles.
