Install the sensor onto the plastic pad:

    Attachment 466010

Install the assembly into the slot:

    Attachment 466012

Screw in the sensor wires and other wiring like the radiator fans, pump
and controller cable to the corresponding connectors in the J-box:

    Attachment 466014

Two more sensors and some additional wiring will be attached as more assembly is finished.

First attempt at the new website is published.

For now, only a few links work, mostly the items discussed in this thread.
Needs a lot more work. Will add more as other add-ons are finished.
Let me know what you think.

Z-Axis sensor will be installed here with two screws:

    Attachment 466238

The steel flat point set screw will trigger the sensor.
There are three positions for the set screw to reduce
unnecessary up and downs of the Z-axis for thin material:

Motor wiring installed. Watch for correct colors on the wires.
Install motors loosely onto rotating ball screw motor mounts.
The A-axis motor shown here. Others go the same way.

I use four Teknic CPM-SDSK-2321S-RQN servos for $250 each
and found them totally acceptable for the prototype machine.

    Attachment 466252

Each motor mount has a recess at the base of the motor:

    Attachment 466254

Place the tightening tool into the recess. As you push it in,
the motor will move up, tightening the belt:

    Attachment 466256

Adjust for 1/8" "give" of belt with light finger pressure:

Place the two Lexan tubes onto the base:

    Attachment 466462

And slip the manifold over the top of the tubes.
Fasten the manifold with two screws to the bridge:

    Attachment 466464

    Dust collection set installed:

    Attachment 466466

Brush ring snapped onto the dust collection base.

The brush shown here is the open version where you can see the bit
and the cut area without obstruction. It removes fine dust almost as
well as a closed brush , leaving a few larger pieces on the material.

Performance video to follow as soon as the machine is ready to cut.

There is also a conventional brush ring with full brush coverage:

Remove the screws on the five plugs on the machine bed and pull
them straight down without turning and twisting them. The heavy
grease on the bottom of the bed should not be disturbed or cleaned:

    Attachment 466828

    Attachment 466830

Install the drain nozzles in place of the plugs.
Hose has a slight curve which should face towards the front:

Re: David A's Benchtop CNC Version 2

Installation of cutting coolant set is easier if the front of the
machine is lifted a bit for access. I use a car jack to do that:

    Attachment 466886

There are two pairs of 80/20 pivot nubs on either
side of the machine and an additional floating set.
In this pic, you can also see the five drain nozzles
    which were just installed (blue):

    Attachment 466888

Slide the floating pair of pivot nubs to about 10"
of the end nubs. Do not tighten them yet:

Install the drawer slide/bracket assemblies to the pivot nubs:

    Attachment 466900

Pull the slides all the way out:

    Attachment 466902

The flanges of the cutting fluid basin have pockets for the sliders on the bottom side:

    Attachment 466904

Adjust the floating slider assembly to match basin width and place the basin onto the sliders:

    Attachment 466906

Basin portion of cutting coolant set is finished.
Push the basin to its use position under the machine frame:

Finishing up the outlet side of the cutting coolant set:
    .
    .
Insert the 1/4" hose into the base of the Loc-Line spout:

    Attachment 466936

Twist and push the hose all the way in:

    Attachment 466938

Push the other end of the hose through one of
the two threaded openings of the dust shoe base:

    Attachment 466940

The hose will go through a channel in the spindle mount and daylight:

    Attachment 466942

Pull the hose through all the way and screw in the base of the Loc-Line:

Hi David - Coming along nicely. Your aluminium parts how are they finished? Are they "as made" or some sort of burnishing or tumbling? But not anodised ? Peter

Re: David A's Benchtop CNC Version 2

    Hey Peter,

No anodizing at all due to cost.

Most parts are tumbled, large 1/8" pieces like the rear cross brace are sanded to break the edges.
The parts have been cut intermittently over two years on a fairly tired machine using mostly drop materials.

This is meant to be a "proof of concept" build and utilizes a lot of used parts from my first prototype.

Future production parts will be cut on this new machine.
